Who are they?

Kim Hong-Do (1745~?)

He is the painter of the latter period of Jo-Sun dinasty (one of the old Korean dynasties). He paints landscapes, portraits and genre pictures of the populace.  In the past, we have special organization of painters it called “Do-Hwa-Soe” that supported by government. He joined the organization than he was admitted his adroitness and became a King’s painter. Even if he was belong to government position, he tended to draw common people’s picture. He was loved by Jung-Jo the 16th King of Jo Sun.

Than, who’s Shin Yoon Bok?

Shin Yook-Bok (1758-?)

He is the painter of the latter period of Jo-Sun dinasty, too. Includ Kim Hong-Do, Shin Yoon-Bok and one painter Kim Dyk-Shin, they  called the best 3 top of artists of genre pictures of the populace. Like Kim Hong-Do, he was born in artistic family where was the father had position of Do Hwa Soe, too. He usually painted genre pictures but unlike Kim Hong-Do, he liked to picture of Gisaeng (that is Korean geisha) and indecent pictures. In his works, showed reality and protest of confucianism. While Kim Hon-do was admitted by King, He tried to express the corrupt officails by his works.  However,  he was withdrew by other officials because of his suggestive pictures.
